"Excellent family gite in rural location"
We stayed at Les Hiboux from Aug 9th for a fortnight and found it to be an excellent base for a family with young children (2 and 7 year old boys) to explore the Charante area. The gite itself is spacious and well equipped and more importantly for us all on one level which was great with an accident prone, hyper active 2 year old. The extensive gardens and grounds are wonderful for children to explore and ours loved helping to collect the eggs from the chickens and surveying the produce in the veggie plot. The gardens are well equipped with a lovely outdoor swimming pool, trampoline, swings and slides and toys. We also went for lots of bike rides and walks to the nearby ice cream factory! There are plenty of attractive villages and town to explore close by: Brossac itself, Chalais, Angouleme and our favourite Aubeterre sur Dronne, as well as some pretty lakeside resorts. Further afield, Bordeaux is a stunning city with excellent attractions, restaurants and shopping. Last but certainly not least, Geoff and Jenny were the perfect hosts; welcoming and knowledgeable about the local area and French customs. They went out of their way to help with any query or concern both at the booking stage and whilst on holiday. We would highly recommend Les Hiboux. We left with some fantastic holiday memories and if you are reading this review and book are sure you will too. Thank you Geoff and Jenny.

"A Wonderful Rural Retreat"
Les Hiboux provided us with the perfect French holiday retreat. The Gite is spotless and well equipped, the location quiet and rural. The grounds are enormous, giving the children lots to explore. The trampoline, swings and pool were well used and enjoyed. Geoff and Jenny were wonderful hosts and ensured we were well looked after. We fully recommend their offer to provide dinner - we had two delicious home cooked meals on the terrace which added to the relaxation of the holiday. We visited two of the local lake beaches and the river beach in Aubeterre, which is in itself a beautiful town to see. Cannot recommend highly enough for someone wanting an 'out of the way' holiday with plenty to do and see nearby.

We had a lovely stay at Chez Bouchet. It is set in a quiet location with its own garden and barbeque. We had use of all the grounds and pool. The children loved the pool, trampoline and badminton. Not far away are the lakes. Supermarkets 10 mins away. The gite had everything I needed including a dish washer and washing machine. We would recommend this gite and the lovely owners Geoff and Jenny.

"Peaceful Location in Lovely Countryside"
We had a really lovely time at Chez Bouchet and will no doubt return. The gite is set in a very quiet location at the end of a lane with no passing traffic, set in rural countryside with lovely views. Geoff and Jenny were the perfect hosts who made our stay really enjoyable and couldn't do enough for us. The gite was well equipped with everything we needed with it’s own barbeque and garden, although there are gardens of a couple of acres that we used as well. There is also a good size swimming pool, although it was a bit early in the year for us to be tempted in! All in all a great place to relax and unwind, and to explore this lovely region of France.

"Lovely place, for us a perfect stop-over after visiting Saint Emilion"
We enjoyed the calm surroundings, the warm welcome and good food that Geoff and Jenny have offered to us. There is a very nice swimming pool with brand new terrace to enjoy the beautiful sunset. The kids enjoyed the swing and the trampoline and fell in love with Guinness, the sweet cat.
